With just under two days remaining in the transfer window, Manchester City are finalizing their plans for the second half of the season. While a fifth consecutive Premier League title seems unlikely, the team is still targeting qualification for next season’s Champions League and aiming for success in both the FA Cup and this season’s Champions League.

City have already strengthened their squad in January with three key signings. Defenders Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis have joined from Lens and Palmeiras, respectively. Additionally, forward Omar Marmoush arrived in a £59million move from Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, the club is still keen on adding a midfielder before the window closes. Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz has been linked with a loan move, while Porto’s Nico Gonzalez could make a £50million switch. These developments are ones to watch closely as the deadline approaches.

£4m Exit Close

In terms of outgoings, City are reportedly on the verge of selling teenage midfielder Jacob Wright to Swansea City for £4million. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Swansea’s Championship rivals, Middlesbrough, had also expressed interest, but Wright is likely to head to South Wales in what would be the latest sale from City’s strong youth academy.

Wright, who has made four appearances for City’s first team in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup, and Champions League, has not been able to secure a regular spot in Pep Guardiola’s plans, prompting the move.

Loan Agreement in Place

City are also preparing for the loan departure of 20-year-old forward Will Dickson. The young forward has impressed with the under-18s and under-21s, and he is set to join Scottish Premiership side Motherwell for his first taste of senior football.

With deadline day fast approaching, City are looking to finalize these deals and solidify their squad for the remainder of the season.
